How to activate MonitorPro Desktop

 

Note

The following process is only required for self-hosted clients. Any hosted clients on EHS Data environments will be registered automatically as part of your user setup. To request a new user to access a hosted environment contact support@ehsdata.com. 

Introduction

When starting MP-Desktop for the first time or on a new PC users will first need to register and activate their licence. Click on the MP-Desktop Icon after installation and you will be prompted with the below screen.

If you don’t want to activate MP-Desktop immediately then you can run in Trial Mode for up to 45 days. To Register complete the form with your personnel information and ensure you complete the Company Code box with the correct Company Code. As the first point of contact please request this from your database administrator, or alternatively, it can be provided by contacting support@ehsdata.com. If you have previously used the trial mode but now want to activate it, use the Edit form option to enable you to lately update the fields. 

Automatic Activation

If you have an internet connection, then simply click on the automatically Activate Now and providing your company has sufficient licences remaining MP-Desktop will be activated. Licences can be managed within MP-Desktop by administrators under the Help menu, alternatively, contact support@ehsdata.com.

If you are connected to the Internet via a Proxy Server

A number of organisations allow access to the internet via a proxy server in which case the Automatic Activation may not work seamlessly. In this situation, you will be taken through the Manual Activation process. Follow the steps and you will be provided with an Activation Code.

Open the Online Form in step a) and enter your details. If the online form will not open, then check the section below for what to do. 

Once the details have been populated then click on the Get Activation Code. As with the above Automatic Activation, an Activation Code will be provided assuming a correct Company Code was entered and there are licences available against this organisation. 

Note

Your Computer Name can be obtained from the start menu of your device. The System ID is contained in the Manual Activation window and can be copied into the online form.

Once you have obtained the Activation Code, which will open in a new browser window, copy it back to the Manual Activation window and click Activate. If successful, you'll be prompted to log into MonitorPro or make a connection to a MonitorPro database. 

If an Internet connection cannot be obtained from the environment where MP-Desktop is installed
(e.g. some Citrix/RDS environments)

In some environments access to the internet may be restricted or not possible at all. In these circumstances, where an internet connection is available (such as on your PC or phone) open a browser and go to:

https://manualactivation.ehsdata.com/RegisterV9.aspx

This will take you to the Online Registration page. You will need to populate the form with the required fields, including the Company Code and MP-Desktop System ID (as detailed above). Click the Get Activation Code button when the fields have been completed. Copy or note down the Activation Code and paste or write this into the Manual Activation box back in the Citrix/RDS environment. Then click to Activate.

Creating a connection to a database

If access is for the first time or when on a new PC, MP-Desktop will not be aware of the name of your database server, or the name of your database. You may need to obtain these from your IT department.
